This year's yachting events at Cowes include:
Saturday 22nd June 2002 - The Hoy Around The Island Yacht Race.
First sailed in 1931, in the largest yacht race of it's kind, around 2,000 yachts of all kinds, from small family yachts to multi-hulls and America's Cup yachts, both old and new race to sail around the Isle of Wight
3rd to 10th August 2002 - Cowes Week
The world's largest and most famous sailing regatta, first started in 1826. A typical day has 35 races starting for all the different classes entering.

at Auckland, New Zealand on 1st October 2002 - the Louis Vuitton Cup.
This will decide which of the 7 countries entering will win the right to race New Zealand for the America's Cup in 2003:
Isle of Wight - GBR Challenge
Italy - Prada Challenge & Onorato Challenge (two teams)
Sweden - Victory Challenge
Germany - Illbruck German Challenge
USA - One World & Oracle Racing & Team Dennis Conner (three teams)
France - Le Défi Francais
Switzerland - Alinghi Swiss Challenge
