Well, we've done it. We've stepped outside the format of the Edited Guide in hopes that we can revitalise the creative spirit of many who feel restricted by the creative and editorial limitations set out in the Guidelines for Peer Review and submissions to the official Edited Guide.
The 'h2g2editors', for reasons good and true in their own right, are obliged to apply rules and regulations on literary creativity when judging entries for the Guide. We feel these restriction are contrary to the spirit of Douglas Adams.
We do not intend, or want to suggest or imply in any way, that we cannot live within the House Rules. We don't wish to create an atmosphere of contention or conflict with the management or staff of the h2g2 website and we will stand with them against any who break the House Rules.
We are simply abandoning the Guidelines for Submissions to the Edited Guide as the bible of literary creativity. We merely want to write and read material we believe more in keeping with the true spirit, not simply designed to pass muster. We want to see more attention given to the Unedited portions of the Guide and the individual entities who spawn them.
