Escape from submarine

1 Conversation

If you want to escape from a sinking submarine but fear the bends all you have to do is put your head in a bucket and breath as you ascend. The air expands in your lungs as you rise, but your lungs do not burst as the pressure increases because the expanding air fills the bucket and escapes, thus relieving the pressure on your lungs. Because the air pressure in the sub, the bucket and at sea level are all equal you don't get the bends and live to dive another day.
