Saving of the Utila iguana (Ctenosaura bakeri) which is native only to the island of Utila off Honduras. It was already endangered by over hunting but now an international airport is being constructed on the island. The Zoological Society of Frankfurt and the Senckenberg Nature Reserve Society have set up a research and breeding station for the iguanas on Utila. They plan to set up a wildlife conservation area and encourage the iguana to lay its eggs elsewhere. The beach area where the lizard lays its eggs has been cleared already.
