How are the mighty fallen...

Last night I happened across an extremely surreal piece of television...

Christopher Eccleston reading the Bedtime story on CBEEBIES smiley - yikes, and it was about Aliens and the Man in the Moon...

Someone, somewhere in BBC Casting must have an evil sense of humour...

Colin Jeavons - the man who played the very creepy Mr Tracey in K-9 and Company, and the compere at the Restaurant at the End of the Universe in the TV Hitchhiker's - used to be a presenter on Play School.

Which I find rather chilling.

Bloody Hell. I bet there was an outbreak of bedwetting incidents across the UK that year.

May I ask why it is a comedown for Chris Eccleston to appear on CBeebies? My 4 year old is a huge fan of Dr Who and got a real kick seeing her Doctor twice on the bedtime hour. Its actually the most important thing you can do, read stories to children. He did a superb job and, far from finding it a case of the mighty fallen, found that his excellent reading raised him a notch or two in my estimation. Sadly too many actors have this 'ghetto approach' to this vital age group in the same way as the researcher who invented the condescending title of this thread!!

Don't get me wrong - This thread was not started with any malice in mind against childrens presenters... As with most of the things I say on this site you should take it with a pinch of salt smiley - winkeye... As I said earlier the reason I discovered he was there was that my seven year old was watching it (and noticed who he was!). I must admit though - CBeebies was just about the last place on earth I was expecting CE to pop up again.

Given that the average CBeebies presenter either looks like they'd rather be anywhere else, like they couldn't possibly get work anywhere else, or like they've only just left the ranks of the viewers?
