Couldn't they have left it to Rust In Peace in some corner of a BBC warehouse somewhere?

I just hope that they superimpose a really big red laser beam on the screen that doesn't actually meet the end of his nose gun and that shoots up at an alarmingly inaccurate angle at the bad guys!

But, it's wonderful news. My kids are ecstatic. They love K9.

GNYHAA!!! Why why why why why?
Okay I've calmed down now... never been fond of K9. I'm sure RTD an co will somehow find a way to turn the sows ear in to a velvet cloth, but I don't know how they'll do it. And worse from the main site it looks like they're going with the original, without legs!... GNYHA!

I hope that Rose laughs her head off the moment she sees him! And as we now know that K9's definitely back in the Sarah-Jane episode, I do hope that Sarah's just had him rusting in a shed for the last 20 years or so!

But, my children would cry. What did K9 ever do to you? I'm sooo happy! It's made my day complete to see the happiness on their faces when I told my youngest two that K9 was coming back.

I don't actually mind the fact that K9 is being brought back in the new series of Doctor Who. I mean he was an extremely good companion whom the Doctor could count on as one of his best and most reliable friends, even though he did annoy the Fourth Doctor sometimes (!), and I would actually like to see K9 against the Daleks or the Cybermen, as this didn't happen in the old series. I think it would be good to see how K9 does against the Doctor's two greatest adversaries.
What does concern me however is what the new generation of fans will make of K9. Will he be a source of fun (as the Daleks gradually became before the Eccleston series, with all those taking-the-piss adverts) or will he be something that the fans will like and warm to? I can imagine him being the next Buzz Lightyear or the next Pokémon (remember that old craze?), with shop windows full of transparent boxes of K9 "working models."

Well, it's only one episode; and it does make sense for Sarah to still have him. I just hope he can move faster than a mobility scooter this time.

I almost hope that he can't. And that his motor kicks out the loudest, most annoying, most impossible-to-creep-up-behind-some-guards-without-them-hearing-you kind of noise..!

Depends what they're going to use him for, I suppose. It would be fun to see the Doctor being surprised that he still works!

It's just occurred to me that to someone of Rose's generation, he will look like some sort of cut-price Aibo.

Maybe he'll have got fed up of having to be lifted in an out SJ's house, and designed himself Dalek-style levitatation equipment.

One things for sure - he's looking slightly the worse for wear...

Blimey, you'd think Sarah could manage a tin of Hammerite, wouldn't you? Run down motors and electronics, yes, but rust?

could have been worse - she could have had kids and given him to them to look after... He'd have been painted pink with ribbons around his antennae.

Having seen that picture I'm not as dead against K-9's comeback as I have been... the old-and-battered look fits quite well, making it clear to the audience that this *is* an old robot.
Now we just have to hope that they stick with this design and don't come up with some crappy Japanese style robo-pet.
I now have visions of Sarah Jane talking to some unfamiliar bloke in a dodgy suit and K-9 trundling in and saying "Mas-ter?"

Well, I hope the Doctor's going to fix him up a bit before he buggers off, the poor thing deserves better than that.

The episode that brings back K9 to Doctor Who is going to be one hell of a fantastic episode! I mean you've got Anthony Stewart Head (who I've always thought would make quite a good Doctor), Sarah Jane Smith and K9 all in one episode! I can't wait to see it!
