It's very, um... orange, isn't it? Quite like it though.

I think you are very brave to bring this up. I lurk about on the Outpost Gallifrey forum and there has been near riots over there. But then there are some more ... fervount fans over there.
Personally I think it is alright and that by the time the series is out I shall like it rather a lot.

It's a bit Farscape-y, but I'm sure it'll grow on me. At least it should bring about a reduction in the amount of diamonds about, as pretty much all versions of that look dated these days.

I'm hoping that it looks much better when in place on the title sequence, but I do have to spare a thought for my mates at Doctor Who magazine, who'll have a terrible time trying to make that work on the front cover.

Liked the diamond logo a lot.
I think the new logo would be better with blue-grey colours rather than orange-yellow. As things stand it looks like the logo for a gym chain or telecoms company.

I am not too bothered with the idea of fitting it on print media. The McCoy logo went through various changes to appear on DWM, but it was still recognisably the same thing. I am assuming this version is from the titles and possibly a different background shade may appear in print.
I have to admit my first thought was "Urrgh! Its all modern, and shiny, and SF-like. Not enough of a home made feel about it." But that is just nostalgia talking and the whole point is that this should be a new series for new people as well as fans and so really ought to look a bit SF like.

It'd be okay on DWM- it would just end up as a banner logo, like SFX's is.
I like the diamond logo too, particularly the shiney silver MA one, but it's too old-fashioned to work for a new series.

I think the diamond logo has a sort of timeless quality to it - it's a lot less dated than the neon logo or the McCoy version.
Not that I'm campaigning for the restitution of an old logo or that I particularly dislike the new one.
In a year's time we will marvel that we ever had this discussion...

Aside from the spelling issue, that's probably not a bad idea. WHat could be more timeless than white-on-black plain type.

I love the original titles. I know it was just so they could have a symetrical pattern to create the feedback with, but having the name 'Doctor OHO' as the title of the show (until the 'W' fades over the first 'O') really makes me giggle.
He could walk into rooms like Alan Partidge. "Ohohhhh!"

You never went to the Merseyside Local Group by any chance, did you Kerr?

I suppose it's an obvious joke, but the MLG people had a comic strip called Doctor Oho.
Probably not the one you know

Gosh no. It was about the First Doctor and his original crew. They did one for each of the first two seasons, with just the lamest jokes in the world. I used to love that.

There used to be a fairly well-known 'zine called Five Hundred Eyes which ran a (shamefully amusing) strip called Doctor Oho. It's a fairly obvious title for a parody and less bizarre than some in my experience (Ducktor Who, for example, the adventures of a duck wearing McCoy's hat and sweater).
