I'm interested in knowing more about the special effects that might be going into the new series. Does anyone have an idea about the size of the budget the BBC is thinking of putting into the programme?
This will be a great opportunity for British sci-fi to make a comeback. The last decade has been dominated by Buffy, X-Files, Babylon 5 etc, it'll be nice to see a Brit dominated show for the public. I personally feel there's a big sci-fi void on terrestrial TV (without resorting to the usual repeat of the old Buffy series).
Dr. Who now has a great opportunity to appeal to a new generation of fans who haven't grown up with this Saturday evening show. I'm sure the series will have some fine scripts but it also needs some good effects, I don't think Dr. Who can afford to have dodgy floppy walls for its sets and sink plunger maniacal beings for baddies anymore.
Has the series got the promise of a good budget?

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
