h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

What doy yoy think of haveing a Role Playing Game? like this one fox exsample http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/F77522?thread=147840 but one based on Doctor Who. Any good?

Greetings. I think a Doctor Who role-playing game would be a great idea, but you know that they have already made one back in 1996 called "Destiny of the Doctors," where you played an energy creature called the Graak and you had to rescue the Doctor's seven incarnations from the Determinant, a vast combat arena similar to the Death Zone created by the Master on the planet Siralos, aided by the sonic screwdriver, the Brigadier on a radio set and the Doctor in your mind. But, it wasn't terribly good and I think a new better RPG would be a good idea.

Bah, whimperlings! I remember, and indeed still have stashed away somewhere in my secondary console room, a near-complete set of books for the original DW RPG produced by FASA in 1984-5. A not-bad game system, although at least one of the systems is seriously flawed and it never quite gets round the problem of who the players are supposed to be (if they play regulars from the TV series it's very hard to realistically threaten them - ie the GM can't let a character like Sarah die even if she does something thoroughly stupid).

But still, a game I spent many happy hours playing in the late 80s and early 90s. Long out of print, of course...

My other half has been toying with the idea of designing a Dr Who RPG for some time now. Every time I think he's forgotten about it, he'll turn round and say something like 'Do you think Ice Warriors would work as a character class' or 'Wouldn't it be cool to make everybody work for UNIT'. I'm not sure he'll ever get around to doing anything about it, but it cetainly keeps him amused
