Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window

A film projector and a screen

I thought i would post an entry about one of my favourite movies and in my mind an all time classic "ALFRED HITCHCOCK'S REAR WINDOW"

WHO STARS IN IT?

James Stewart plays L. B. 'Jeff' Jeffries
Grace Kelly Plays Lisa Carol Fremont
Wendell Corey Plays Lieutenant Thomas J. Doyle
Thelma Ritter Plays Stella
Raymond Burr Plays Lars Thorwald
And of course......
Alfred Hitchcock Plays Man Winding Clock in Songwriter's Apartment

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?

James Stewart is L. B. 'Jeff' Jeffries. Jeff lives in 1950's New York in an apartment. He is a professional photographer for a unnamed magazine and breaks his leg while getting an action shot at an auto race. Due to this he is confined to a wheelchair with a cast on his leg. Stuck in his tiny apartment his only visiters being a nurse Stella who has been provided by his insurance company and his upper class society girlfriend Lisa Carol Fremont played by the lovely Grace Kelly. It's while been stuck in his apartment that he starts to spend his days looking out his "rear window" to the apartment and the courtyard next to it. It's here we see the varied neighbours he has. There is "Miss Lonelyhearts," a spinster who dreams of having a man so much that she makes up imaginary date's and has meals with them. Also there's The Songwriter, a composer who is having trouble completing a song and there's Miss Torso, a shapely dancer who has her fair share of men friends, The Sunbathing Sculptress, who either falls asleep sunbathing or is sculpting something no-one can tell what it is. Also there is a newlywed couple who spend most of the film behind a shade, And there's the middle-aged couple with a little yapping dog who sleep on the fire escape to avoid the sweltering heat of their apartment.

But the main family in the story is the Thorwald's. Lars Thorwald played by Raymond Burr is a salesman who's wife is confined to her bed due 2 an unknown illness. His wife is also constantly nagging at him and he seem not to pleased. Also being nagged at, But not as bad as Thorwald, Is Jeff. Lisa is getting on at Jeff to quit his job and become a fashion photographer and that she could get him loads of shoot's. But Jeff loves being a man of the world and wants to stay in his job as he loves it. Lisa is angry and leaves Jeff alone in his apartment and it's then he hears a scream coming from somewhere on the courtyard. He falls asleep only to waken and notice the Lars leaving in the middle of the night with his sample suitcase. He makes a few more trips like this before Jeff once again falls asleep.

This starts of Jeff on a campaign to find out what has happened and includes him watching out his window with binoculars and a wide angle lense. This makes the people around him very tense and he even includes his friend that is a policeman in the NYPD. I do not wish to give away the ending to anyone who has not seen it so i will end my info on the storline here.
