Anyone considered animated smileys?

Not sure if or how (or even what to animate to be honest) but animateed gif files aren't too big byte-wise...
Just a humble suggestion

Animated GIFs are not *too* big, but they are bigger than the static ones so would slow down page loading on slow connections. I do not see much need for them either. And the last and most important point: Do you now how long it takes the artists to make a STATIC smiley?

You've enlightened me nicely - they have been considered and rejected with good cause.
I never claim all my ideas are good ones 
* They only take so long cause they have to get em right!!! Yeah, I've dabbled with creating Icons, and agree that making pictures that size is a nightmare
