In the US Thanksgiving is big holiday and the symbol is the Turkey.
Maybe we could use a smiley.

I have wild turkeys in my woods...maybe I could send you a pic? 
As for this non meat eating person...I for one am glad Ben Franklin's idea for the turkey to be the Natl' symbol was defeted!
Wonder if it had been voted in...would we eat bald eagles on Thanksgiving? 
What about a 
pie smilie?
Just between you & I, I don't think the British will be too eager to give us symbols that remind them we kicked their Royal butts outta' here.

You're wrong, Pandora! The British eat turkey at Christmas, so it's a great idea for a smiley, and we've added it.
