Persimmons
Created | Updated Jan 28, 2002
A persimmon is a cross between an apple, a tomato, and an orange. It looks like a tomato, has a skin the same texture as a tomato, has little leaves on top of it like a tomato but somewhat stuck to it for some odd reason, is colored orange or sometimes yellow, and as crunchy as an apple (or close enough).
Rule of thumb when eating a persimmon:
Eat everything. And I said EVERYTHING. Including the core with the seeds. With one exception.*
Persimmons originated from China and has spread to Japan and Korea. In the early 1800's they have been imported to California, thus giving the Western civilization a fruit not-so-well-known.
