Small RSS long-haul spacecraft, registered as "Shadow", intercepted on route to Rigel VI with illegal cargo of three Gaels, four cases of Alterian rum, and 3 cases of illegal narcotics (marijuana)
Gaels were picked up from various planets in the sector and were being taken, drugged, to the market at Rigel VI
The crew members were arrested, including informant K. Christopoulos
Christopoulos was given immunity from all charges in return for testifying at her crew mates’ trials
Christopoulos gave information including detailing extreme treatment of Gaels before, during and after sale, detailed descriptions of 23 Gaels formerly trafficked, and the names and descriptions of 4 other smuggling ships
Five members of the crew received death sentences:

Major Aurelius Jonston (25)
Crewman Jessica Mossman (22)
Crewman John Gibbs (20)
Crewman Alexandra Newman (18)
One received a life sentence:
Crewman Sunni Lebowski (15)
The information gained in trial led to the capture of 2 smuggling ships
Verdict:
Christopoulos found to be guilty of smuggling, but due to extenuating factors, including initially informing Starfleet and her subsequent testimony, no custodial sentence was requested
Christopoulos was required to enter Starfleet as part of her plea agreement
