I suggested this once to a friend as a laugh. However she reported back saying that it was quite effective, which was a
relief since I was partly telling her to try it just to see if she would, to me the idea was ridiculous. This friend,
lets call her Hacienda, which isn't her real name by the way, she doesn't like people throwing her real name about on
the net, which is understandable I suppose, but anyway, I digress.

Hacienda was having problems with some algebra, but there's no reason why this method should not work for other
sources of stress (your PC manufacturer, your friend with a higher spec and/or more reliable PC than you, that b*****d
in the car in front of you - although having said that, this doesn't work well in a car). So, what I told her to do was as follows.

• Write one or two words describing the source of the stress (in this case 'Algebra') in satisfying huge and brutal letters
  on a hitherto blank sheet of innocent A4 paper.
• Screw the paper up into a ball, very very quickly, directing all your anger and frustration into the action.
• Hurl the ball of paper across the room as violently as possible.
• Run across the room in a similarly agressive manner.
• Pounce on the unsuspecting ball of paper (no, lets be honest, given the way you've treated the bit of paper so far, it's
  unlikely to be unsuspecting anymore. A little dazed, perhaps, but not unsuspecting) and then rip it to shreds as quickly as
  possible.

Hacienda went on to feel much better about it, and has since rated this method as 7/10 for effectiveness. She never got
the algebra done tho.
