Ideas for Nextlife - the best fantasy RPGs

I am working on an idea for a NextLife game. NextLife games aim to create RPG video games to rival the quality and popularity of SquareSoft's highly sucessful Final Fantasy series.
this is it:-
A woman works for the army of the largest nation in a medieval world. She is ordered to destroy a village full of innocent people, apparently because it is part of the enemy state. She begins to doubt the rightness and goodness of the state she lives in and begins spying for the "enemy". Later on she joins a group that are trying to find out everything that is going on in the world and return it to its peaceful and serene past.
That's just the start and it could get really complicated like in Final Fantasy VIII.
I don't know how good a game it would make - perhaps it's better as a novel - I want you to tell me what you think.
