2. Telephone the local take-away restaurant and ask them to be on call should the worst happen to your cooking plans.
3. Don't invite vegetarians.
4. Invite an even number of people, including you and any room-mates/partners. Also have people paired up so no-one feels left out if there is to be a slow dance.
5. Make sure your guests know the itinerary. If they're expecting shrimp cocktail and conversation and you offer guacamole and dancing, things could turn ugly.
6. Greet each guest with a smile. :)
7. Should an awkward silence occur, be sure there is lots of food on the table to be passed.
8. Have good music.
9. Say goodbye to each guest with a smile and a hug. <hug>
