Books versus movies

1 Conversation

How many times, after seeing the film adaption of a book, do people say "but the book was much better"? I fail completely to understand this. Isn't it self-evident that the experience of watching a movie is different from reading a book? So different, in fact, that the really is no basis for comparison. I love books and I love movies and I think it does a disservice to both to continue with this sort of comparison. Ok, so now that I've got that off my chest my friends can breathe easy as I'll stop going on about it.
