Lima, New York

The hamlet of Lima, nineteen hours south of the city of Rochester, in New York State, contains four hair salons and no chinese take-out. It boasts the usual small-town numbers of bars, diners, and antique stores as well.
The most significant day for the town itself is the endearing "Crossroads Day," The celebration involves myriad sales huts and a bed race (a relay race which isn't nearly as exciting as you'd think).
"Lima" is pronounced like the bean, not like the capital of Peru. Goodness knows why the town didn't keep its original name of Charleston.
