A Conversation for Talking Point: Nostalgia

The Looking Glass

Most of us look back at times when things were less evolved to wonder what the time was like. What was it like to just have radio as your only form of electronic entertainment in the house? What was it like before deoderant was invented? What would it be like to live in a day and age when battle was done by a sword and your strength and agility were the deciding factors for war?

Me personally I like to just reflect back. I enjoy looking to the future to see our technical evolution take place. It is my personal opinion that surving the ages all has its equal obstacles of living. Every advancement we make in societies brings upon us newer obstacles to overcome. The automobile got us from one place to another quicker and now we have global warming. We got Google, now we are expected to produce/resource information faster. Information is widely available, yet not all of it is right.

For me looking back is a great resource to see where we have come from and example of the potential of where or how far we can go.

Thoughtful stuff chris. Yes I agree that as technology advances the goal posts change and we're expected to respond to things quicker and be better informed about the things around us. Nothing wrong with that I suppose, but it's an extra pressure that we didn't have before technology became all pervasive. Was ignorance sometimes bliss?
