The Seven Steps of h2g2 Lurker's Anonymous
- We realize that some people think lurking is bad, but we are unable to control our evil impulses (Actually, we just don't care what those people think. They probably lurk too)
- We acknowledge that we have no control over our lurking, and we probably need help. Unfortunately, everyone we know is also a lurker, even if they are unable to admit it
- We understand that lurking is another kind of voyeurism, but we just can't stop - it's so much fun
- We recognize that our lurking behaviour is probably due to a) shyness b) perversity or c) a dogmatic adherence to the maxim, ' If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all'
- We know that lurking gives us an unholy feeling of power, in that we would rather remain silent, and be thought fools, than speak and remove all doubt
- We confess to perhaps overzealous interpretation of the saying, 'Brevity is the soul of wit'
- We concede that we lurk because quite often we just have nothing to say
