At http://www.h2g2.com/A512074 you'll find a nice little page on to very important and interesting planes used in World War II.
Please give me some hints on how to make it even better so that maybe some day it can join the list of edited guide entries....

Hello again Hmmm, the way I would have done this would be to have written seperate Entries on each of the craft and go into a lot more detail on them - What they evolved from, the starting configurations, the war end configurations, their life after the war, famous missions, amazing feats, how and where they were built, stuff like that. However that is just me If you do not wish to do that then add some more planes - the Zero fighter, the Mustang, the Hurricane, the Mosquito. Well, just an idea Until later....

Have you considered making this an H2G2 University project - then you could get other Researchers to help you find information on the different planes.
Just an idea...

In that case, I'll have the Stuka - the key plane of Blitzkrieg!
(assuming, of course, that I can find some info! )

If we're going to start reserving planes, I'd love to do the P-38 Lightning.
The Nazis called it 'Der Gabel schwanz Teufel' the fork-tailed devil. I love that aircraft!

It looks like teddyfromhell is MIA.
Does somebody want to start this as a University project or should we just scavenge aircraft off the list?
I've already got a university project underway and another waiting in the wings ('scuse the pun), but I'd be happy to help out writing some entries for this one if somebody wants to shoulder the burden.

I think a University Project would be a good idea.
I'm planning on writing a Uni Project on the Isle of Wight during World War II, and a seperate article related to the Battle Of Britain, so I am watching this project with great interest.
I'm happy to contribute, yet what I know most of is the SRA.1 Project, which, although started in 1942, was not finished until after the war.

Hello,
Listen, if there is going to be a University Project on this, I want in. I'll do the American planes. ie. the F6F Hellcat, the P-51 Mustang, the Corsair etc.

Also while I'm thinking about it, has the mossie article been put into Peer Review. I'm a scout and would be more than happy to work with you on getting it into the guide, as it seems to need very little work to be recomended.
thanx

Liked the Mossie entry, tho you could do with a bit more detail on the alternate uses, I wouldn't expect you to detail all of them!
and I think that given a few weeks in the univeristy all entries could be released under the header world waer two aircraft, my favorite was the DC-3 Dakota tho I'm too busy too research an artcle for the project.
? If this did go to the university would the original author of this peice be credited or/and his present writing being included?
Lucien,
if this goes to the university it won't need a scout to recommend it, so how about popping over to my entry here and giving it the once over instead!

Woah! Hold your horses there, boys The Mossie Entry is, as I said, just a start. There will be more on the Varients, including the Highball beastie. By the time that it has been finished hopefully there will be a consensus on whether there will be a uni project or not, and so where it goes can be decided then I am too busy for the next couple of weeks - month, to be able to run this project, but after that, maybe. Also with all the help from the gadgees here, it doesn't sound like there would be much to do, 'cept tie all the Entries together. Well, just my £0.02 Until later....

Editorial Note: This Conversation has been moved to the new 'Flea Market' Forum.
This is where we move any Peer Review, Writing Workshop or Alternative Writing Workshop Conversations where the original author has *not* posted to h2g2 for three months. This prevents the active Review Forums from clogging up with dormant entries, but in the Flea Market they can be picked up by others and polished off.

Is anyone actually going to do anything?
How's the Mosquito article coming on? Did it get Peer Reviewed in the end, or are you still writing it?
If anyone organises things, I'll write an article on the Boulton Paul Defiant, an aircraft which has been awarded an unfair reputation as a "death trap".

Hey BB The Mossie Entry is still in its 'mostly finished' incarnation. The Variants section has been sliced and diced into more managable chunks, with most of the info dropped (it was going to be a bit top trumpy, but finding all the info and keeping it straight was a nightmare, so now it is more of an overview). I have found some good Intel missions it was on etc. so when I get a mo' I will write that up Honest guv' Well, must dash, so until later....
