Clocky
Created | Updated Mar 8, 2006
"Clocky" is an alarm clock in development that will roll and hide when its "snooze" bar it depressed. It looks like a bit of human excrement (that is not, by the way a commentary - it actually is designed to look like feces, presumably the origin of its name) with wheels attached on either end and, one imagines, quite an amount of computer wizardry inside. Clocky is programmed to propel iself around the sleeper's room, and find new hiding places each day, forcing over-sleepers to hunt it down in order to stop its alarm. It was designed by Gauri Nanda of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who recently won the coveted "Ig Nobel" prize in economics for its invention. Patent pending.
