Here is my look at a certain genre of movie that is probably my favorite, screwball comedy.

Actually, Bringing Up Baby was one of the films in Katharine Hepburn's 'string of flops'. It fared so poorly in fact that RKO fired its director - the magnificent Howard Hawks - and made Hepburn buy out her contract.
Also, the next picture you talk about is really called His Girl Friday, which Hawks made at Columbia Pictures.

I do like this entry.
But I think with the title as it is I was expecting more on the 'art' of screwball comedies - who made the best, which came first, how they evolved, some modern examples (I think it is a less common genre today - we have toilet humour instead)

However this is more an entry about some of the greatest. perhaps the title might be amended accordingly

Actually, they don't exist today. Modern emphasis on bodily functions (and noises), casual sex, and obsenities would kill any of the humor inherent in the classic screwball. They didn't really evolve as the genre lasted for only a decade at the most. I discussed why they faded out. As for the best, well, that's relative.


Any suggestions for the title change?

I would suggest that you put a little subheader before the last paragraph "the end of screwball comedy" or something, just to distinguish it from the comments on the films themselves

I like the artcial, the only time I have heard a cinema audience laughing out loud is when I went to see "some like it hot".

You may want to search out any other articals on h2g2 related to the subject a link to them which will give the reader operunaty to delve further into the subject if they so wish, I certainly will be putting a link from my "some like it hot" artical to yours.

I know Mr. Cogito is working on an article about "The Thin Man", but it's still a work in progress (and it's actually got a link back to one of *my* other entries). I checked out the movie titles (as well as mention of Busby Berkeley) on h2g2 to make sure I was not treading on anyone's toes. I'll check on the Depression and anything else that might be useful.
