in this age of mind-broadening cultural researche(r)s and travel, and appreciation of all that brilliant food :
can we have a French smiley s'il vous plaît !
With a *heum-heum* kindda sourire and a real breton beret on his tête !
If necessary you may forget about the long string of onions (just one symbolic one will do), there are unfortunately not many French onion sellers left willing to brave "the shuttle" to sell 'real' onions in the youk (or 'UK' as most might call it), and even more unfortunately even less people able to appreciate real French onions and their vendeurs si charmants
Ah yes, how to use that smiley? To express a certain joie de vivre of good-food-istics, a certain je-ne-sais-quoi and a certain style and elegance of thought, perhaps
Bon jour à vous et à nous et à toutes et à tous et plein de bisous

hello SEF, nice to read you.
Welllll, heum, that smiley is a painter-artist I would say, looking at it, I'm not tempted to insist that it is French. As a connaisseur (and artist) I note a definite lack of joie de vivre, of inspirational conviviality and the traditional douce séduction
Did you mean to say that only the French have painters? Or that all painters are French??????? Aaaa, that's why I've no chance whatsoever in the art world je ne suis pas française - - but what about Klee, Picasso, Vasarely, Hundertwasser, Grenville G.???
(aaahhhouhou ---- floor flooding with hot tears, I'm off to wring out the hankie
.....)

It seems as though you have already chosen your French theme smileys. There is slightly more in the way of French theme PICTURE BLOBs if you want to put some on your personal space page (need to edit it in GuideML mode though).

:´`´`::´`´`::´`´`::´`´`: now you are talking "foreign".
I have no idea about that language, getting to grips with basic html was bad enough So I'll stick with a bisou when I want to 'charm'
and an artist's signature when I post messages about France. How about this one then, representing a paint brush :

(gosh, it looks like a barbecue fork....... maybe I need some other ascii design)

GuideML is basically HTML with a few tag name changes and things added or removed. PICTURE BLOB was the subsitute for IMG SRC (which is now allowed in its own right). It's up to you whether you want to decorate your page of course. Here are a few of the local French images though:

well, they are not exactly "smileys" ... although the Poules-aux-froufrous did make me rather.
ahhh, I shall make up a personalised "Smilegnature" to use when I write things.
So here it goes:(drats, I still think the stylish beret is missing, and the palette is unsuited to carrying croissants et café)
