The New Pledge of Allegiance

1 Conversation

I recently got the following in my e-mail. This made me so outraged, I sat down and wrote a commentary on it which I sent out to everyone I new. Because it is rarely a good idea for one to compose while one is growling, my own essay (at the bottom) is far from perfect. I will update it in the future, but I simply have to post my opinion

Subject: New Pledge of Allegiance

This deserves repeating.

New Pledge of Allegiance!

Keep this going.. Maybe those with half a brain will see it..

Since the Pledge of Allegiance and
The Lord's Prayer are not allowed in most public schools anymore Because the word "God" is mentioned....
A kid in Arizona wrote the attached
NEW School prayer.
I liked it....

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.

It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!

Amen

If you aren't ashamed to do this, please pass this on.
Jesus said,
"If you are ashamed of me, I will be ashamed of you before my Father."

Not ashamed. Passing this on

First off, it is not prohibited to worship any given religion. Nor is it wrong to preach such at you own will. However, if in a governmental institution, such as the school, it is prohibited to teach one religion in preference to the other, because that is discrimination.

Second, picture this. Person A follows God's will. Person B follow's Allah's will. Person B's personal religious believes dictate him/her to differenciate between people as 1) followers of Allah or 2) enemies, only worthy to be smited (note: read religious texts associated with Allah and you will see this is not a comical exaggeration). If Preson B goes around publicly imposing this belief upon everyone else, would Person A like it? Now, if Person A imposed his/her own religion upon Person B, *how is that any different*?

This is a free country. Hence the freedom to pierce various bodyparts (though I agree it is icky, it is none of my business to dictate to other people whether they should think it icky as well) AND the FREEDOM of RELIGION.

IT IS AGAINST FEDERAL LAW AND LAWS OF BASIC HUMAN DIGNITY TO IMPOSE PERSONAL BELIEFS UPON ANY OTHER PERSONS.

Third, the reason people learn about totem poles and witchcraft and the like is the same reason they learn about the Catholic Church, the Protestants, the Reformation, the Renaissance, and the World Wars. Don't be a hypocrate and single out the few things that support your idea and moronically ignore the vast ocean of the rest.

With hopes for a better tomorrow without the Bible (alongside other holy text, which, technically shouldn't even be quoted at all in any language besides that which is the original) being misquoted and then thrown into the masses for violent interpretation (not true? Leviticus 20:13 [word-for-word translation] And a man who will lie down the man the woman's naps abomination he does both-of-them death he will die their blood in them. Now how is this translated to "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them." and interpreted as a call to abuse the homosexual minority?),
