Now with a title like that, you'd think I'd just blather on into a list of things not to say. That will come momentarily. Let me preface it with a bit about the idea of why this is needed. If you are in a fight, argument, disagreement, etc., surely you are in the wrong. "But I had no intention of it becoming a fight, argument, etc." Of course you didn't, but now it is, and now you're doomed. DOOOOOOOOOOMED. The reasons for the fight, etc., are arbitrary, and as soon as either party voices any opinion, it is full scale, for a period of time that can only be determined by many many factors, length of relationship being one possible. Now. The actual fighting can consist of shouting, which is tolerable, throwing things, which is stupid and yet very relieving, or the worst, silence, which is golden, except in this case, where it is dark as death. Should you find yourself in a etc., these are things you should not say, under any circumstances, ever.
"You're wrong!" "I'm right!" "*expletive* you!" "I wish we never met." "I wish you horrible things." (especially don't specify which horrible things.) "Your mom is ____." (especially don't fill in the blank.)
I imagine you can see where I'm going with this, as well you should. Basically what I'm trying to get across is, Don't Say Anything That I Would. It's easier that way. If you don't know what I'd say, you'll figure it out soon enough, after that couch you're sleeping on gets angry at you for sitting on the chair too long. The best thing to do is simply shut up and hope for the best. If only I could heed my own advice.
