Universal Language

Pro
The mere idea of the world coming together and becomeing closer cultureally creates a need for a common language to be spoken worldwide.
An artificial language would be able to avoid irregular conjugations, and simplify the learning process, enabling one to learn the basics, and then learn vocabulary as needed.
All Ambassadors would be on equal footing, with everyone speaking a language that is not their native one. Once an Ambassador learned the universal language s/he would be able to go to any country as an ambassador.
Cons
Any country that feels that their language is better than any other for the job is egotistical, this coming from an American.
A universal languange would gradually take the place of the native languages, thereby removing some of the flavor and differences in culture.
If we all spoke the same language all the great works of literature in every language would have to be translated into a language completely different to that originally intended.
That would create an even greater divide between the "haves" and the "have nots". Those who could use this hypothetical language would be at a great advantage, whilst those who couldn't would become incerasingly sidelined.
Any language is affected by the local culture, and different dialects would develope for different areas.
