Raoult's Law
Created | Updated Jan 28, 2002
The vapour pressure of a component of a liquid mixture is equal to the product of the mole fraction of that component and it's pure vapour pressure at a given temperature.
This is less than fascinating, but it can get you about 2-3 marks on an A-Level exam.
Can this knowledge ever be applied to a real or life-thretening situation? If you ever have to distill off one of the components of a liquid mixture to save your life, you can thank Francois Raoult.
