A Conversation for The Martini

My veiws on the vodka martini

having personally tasted the authentic Bond Martini, namely the Vesper. I can understand why people go for shaken vodka martinis.

1. vodka's taste is less challenging than gins (junipers not to everyones taste!).
2. shaking the whole lot with ice, deadens the taste even further.
3. shaking a vodka martini makes the drink extremely cold, even further depriving the cocktail of any real depth of flavour.

It seems that the vodka martini is contrived at every possible point to be flavourless.

pure ethanol is tasteless, colorless and odourless, will they be serving this in a cocktail glass next.

Lots of brands of vodka have sugar added to them to make them more palatable to the immature tastes of todays drinker.

Also, vodka made in America is purposefully made to be completely neutral in all aspects of taste, flavour, and smell. Real Vodka, which is only made in Europe (sorry Yanks!) has a 'bite' to it, and it the perfect accompaniment to salty foods.
