Kibology

Kibo originally became famous as the originator of the practice of 'kibozing'. To kiboze is to run searches throughout all USENET
posts for mentions of oneself. In those long-distant days, any mention of Kibo in any newsgroup anywhere was liable to bring about a swift reply from the man himself. People experimented with variations like 'Quibeau' but to no avail. As far as I am aware Kibo no longer kibozes; his fame is such that there are simply too many mentions of him.
Over the years Kibo built up the longest signature ever seen on the net. Most people, if they have a signature at all, keep within about four lines. Some spill over and develop elaborate ASCII artwork and lengthy quotes. Kibo went beyond all this and gradually composed a .sig of hundreds of lines. It is rarely used as a sig, due to its sheer bulk; generally Kibo will sign himself simply as -- K.
In 1991 the growing Kibo cult established its own newsgroup alt.religion.kibology and commenced a long drawn-out flamewar of attrition with rec.org.mensa, crossposting everything to a varied selection of completely irrelevant groups. Kibo's .sig grew ever longer.
alt.religion.kibology is still a busy newsgroup today, and Kibo posts regularly, often following up something silly that someone has said in another group. And after all these years they're still making fun of Archimedes Plutonium.
