Inchcolm Abbey

1 Conversation

Inchcolm Abbey, on Inchcolm in the River Forth in Scotland, is well worth a visit. Access is by ferry from South Queensferry. The island sits towards the northern side of the Forth opposite Edinburgh. As well as an excellent ruined Abbey, great for exploring although its a bit scary in places, there are also derilict Second World War gun emplacements, a wide range of birds, seals and a lovely small beach. Its definitely a fair weather attraction as there isn't any cover and very little to do inside but on a great sunny day in May it entertained our whole family for a whole afternoon. If you are in the area and have a spare afternoon it's worth a visit.
