Dreams are the oddest things. Scientifically they're what happens when we sleep: our subconscious mind never sleeps and so when we're not providing it with new information it pulls out old stimuli, like daydreams and memories, to amuse itself with, and we experience these past stimuli as dreams. Given this definition, dreams should make no sense.

BUT: people like Miss Cleo make a great deal of money interpreting the symbols in peoples' dreams into things that have significance for them. I do too, although I have yet to demand money for it. But does the idea of dreaming of your teeth falling out, and meaning that you fear for your job, seem odd to you? The explanations for these links are solid things, but what we humans come up with sometimes...
