Plymouth Hoe

0 Conversations

The Plymouth Hoe is, in fact, a large open area of grass and tarmac that is patrolled by
a myriad of flags and nestles on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Plymouth Sound. It
causes much amusement because of its name. Locals often fool their American chums
by telling them they are going to visit the Plymouth Hoe, at which point the excited
American spends all his translated currency upon packs of Durex Featherlite Ribbed.
Several hours later the group return from the Hoe, the American miserable, and the
condoms unused, though for some reason he has managed to catch a social disease
anyway.

The Plymouth Hoe is also the site of the annual Radio One Roadshow, when it visits
Plymouth. Presumeably, one of the men that organises this yearly event is an
American.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
