That is very powerful writing. I really loved it. It totally consumes the reader, drags you in and holds your attention right until the end.
I did guess that Chris was the perpertrator...but maybe you're meant to suspect that?

Now about Chris - to tell the truth, you aren't meant to suspect him, but I wrote this for the optional exam in creative writing for English Lit. A-level, and I didn't have time to rewrite it quite as I would have liked. When I get round to it, I'm thinking of adding a few more characters to allay suspicion, as well as expanding on Nell and particularly Chris, so that he isn't just the 'Hi, it's me, I'm guilty because I serve no other real purpose in the plot' character.
