Dr Spooner's baptisms

1 Conversation

Spoonerisms were named after a real life person called Dr Spooner. In case you haven't come across him before he had an amusing habit of changing round the first letters of words in a sentence, thus rendering it difficult to understand or making it hilarious. So for instance when he was reprimanding one of his students for wasting time and punished him by "sending him down" - expelling him he is said to have said,

"You have tasted two worms and you shall take the town drain from Oxford"

He meant to say

"You have wasted two terms and you shall take the down train from Oxford."

So in honour of dear old Dr Spooner I would like you to send me the names of friends and family that you wouldn't want baptised by Dr Spooner. I don't want the spoonerised name - we can work that out for ourselves.

For instance you may know someone called Mary Helen - Dr Spooner would have baptised her Hairy Melon. We could work the second part out. All I want from you is the name Mary Helen and we'll do the hard work. Get it?
