"I am fed up eating only rice, dal and salad", said 5 years old Tabrez's brother. I want meat & roti.
Since last one year the only food for Tabrez's six member family was rice, dal & salad or pickle.
Living in a shanty with no basic amenities, Tabrez,a sixteen year boy was preparing for his Board Examination, with whole concentration on his studies rather than food and clothing.
His mother not educated beyond standard 5th was very keen to educate her children, kept an eagle's eye on them. His father a skilled labour could not help much to run a family.
Tabrez's mother worked as a tailor in nearby workshop to add up for the family. Looking at her mother's struggle the elder sister of Tabrez helped her to maintain the nominal finance of her family
by coaching the vicinity kids on mere charges.
Sweet childhood of Tabrez and his siblings vanished in poverty. His mother never allowed her children to play in the filthy and narrow by lanes as they could be distracted from their studies. No outings, no good food, no good clothings. Time was flying away.
Board Examination of 2000 appeared and he came out with flying colours(scored 74%marks). Tabrez's elder sister appeared for Standard XII Board Examination. Both worked hard inspite of all the odds and set example for their younger ones.
2004, Tabrez is in second year of graduation in commerce stream. His sister assisting a lawyer and perphaps will take the same career.
Tabrez, repaying back to his mother's efforts, work in a bank in a telemarketing department of a reputed bank.
With their small savings and with the help of maternal uncle they have moved to a government colony with basic amenities- a small one room flat.
At the age of 20 Tabrez was quite mature enough to share the responsibilities of his parents. He and his sister wants to give everything to their siblings, which they have sacrificed.
At present their meals sometime ends up with a dessert
