I posted a message to Metal Chicken last evening about foot and mouth disease. We both live in rural areas and it's a big issue to us. It was a completely inoffensive message. Most of the information in it came straight from BBC News programmes so if it did contain inaccuracies, the BBC is to blame.
I didn't think the moderators would ever even notice me. I couldn't imagine that anything I would say would ever require moderation. What on earth is going on? Metal Chicken and I would be very interested to find out.

If you have contents removed by the moderator and you want to query why then please go to:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Moderation-HelpDesk
So get complaining, and pass this on to anyone who feels the censors are going over the top. I suspect that new ones err on the side of caution - don't panic things will return but insist on a proper explaination - please keep me informed of what happens.

Hi Peta. Hope you had a lovely holiday!
Abi said that message was hidden because I mentioned what Nick Brown, the Agriculture Minister had said. She was happy to let it reappear though. If you're able to find out, I'd like to know why another message on the same subject, on a different thread, but mentioning the actual word of noone was also hidden. Abi said they were both hidden for the same reason, but that can't be right.
I posted the query (including both urls) to the moderation help desk as androyd ACE suggested.
It would be nice to know there's a logical reason for posts getting pulled by the mods.

Any idea what the title of the posting was Sal? Going into the Moderation helpdesk page is not dissimilar to wading through the Somme at the moment...
If I can find it, I'll let you know.

Hi Sal
Thanks for that.
The post was referred and therefore hidden because the moderator was concerned about 'political comment'. We haven't had / don't get a lot of that on h2g2 generally, and they wanted advice. They're both back now, and be assured that the moderators are learning, h2g2 is a tricky site to moderate because of the huge variation in conversation topics. Great for us, tricky for them...
If you have any more problems then do come back to me, I'm happy to try and sort things out.

Thanks Peta. I'm surprised that you say you haven't had and don't get much political comment on h2g2. I just assumed it was one of those really basic things people like to discuss. Must say something about my level of awareness I guess. I'm assuming there's no longer any problem with talking politics ... zat ok?
