How to play Egyptian Rat Screw.
Created | Updated Jan 28, 2002
The name might be misleading but Egyptian Rat Screw, or simply ERS, is an action packed card game, not the acient art of molesting small rodents. I have no idea how or where it originated but I picked it up in 1995 at some church meeting.

What you need to play.

All you need is single deck of playing cards (no jokers) and at least two people. If you have more than 4 people playing you might want to throw in another deck of cards. A good, strong, flat surface to play on is also recommended.

How to play.

Ah...here it is. You start by dealing the entire deck(s) of cards around the group. Dealing usually starts to the left of the dealer for the card un-savy. Everyone needs to keep the deck face down and not look at the cards.

Once this is done the player to the dealers left will lay their top card face down in the center of the group. Then play proceeds to his left around the circle with each player laying their top card down on the previous player's card.

Here is the trickey part. If at anytime double (2 cards of the same value, one directly on top of the other) any player can slap them and then add the stack of cards to the bottom of their deck. If someone slaps cards that are not doubles he must add his top card to the bottom of the cards in play

Here is the super tricky part. If player1 (for example) lays down a face card (Jack, Queen, King, Ace) the next player (player2) must lay a face card down on top of it or the stack of cards go to player1. If player1 lays down an Ace player2 can lay up to 4 cards to get the face needed (3 for king, 2 for queen, and 1 for jack). If player2 lays down the face card then the player to his left (player3) must do the same thing. It continues to go around until someone wins the cards.

Winning.

To win the game you only need to aquire the entire deck(s) of cards.
