Schools methods harm students:discuss
Created | Updated Apr 29, 2009
The school has a system of options children can choose from in their third year, but there are obligatory subjects like English and Maths, to which the school has added R.E.
That's right, they have made a subject that is of no earthly use OBLIGATORY. You HAVE to take it at GCSE, it is not an option.
This means all kids attending this school must DROP a USEFUL subject at GCSE in order to pander to the school's demand they sit RE at GCSE.
Further, and arguably worse, and this applies to all schools. Staff preferences cause the exams to be sat TWO a day.
So, your child has had to attend school from the age of 5 until the age of 15 and now you and your teaching staff regard that ten year period of their life of so little consequence that you can make them panic into sitting 2 GCSEs a day in the hottest time of the year simply because you cannot be bothered to supervise them!
One exam a day is plenty, optional, or not. One day examining a five-ten year span of study of a subject is barely adequate.
Comments welcome, but please leave out what life was like in "your day": we are into progress here!
