Conspiracies

Many people believe in conspiracies. For some reason most of them are also the type of people who would be committed by any fairly committed psychiatrist. This either means that the conspiracies are very very well hidden, or that its all made up.
Or could it be called a conspiracy that all conspiracies are made up?
Anyway, the most common conspiracy theory is that the US government has covered up contact with extraterrestrial life. Given their lack of ability to cover up a small presadential affair "There will be no whitewash..." and so on I think this is quite unlikely.
(Actually this is only the second most common conspiracy theory, the most common being that we are actually even slightly important, but this has become so widely accepted to become regarded as true.)
