No-one around at the moment but ACEs, scouts and sub-eds.
What better time?
Incidentally, I guess the new address is now http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A477515

Just wanted to stop by and say I thought this was a really interesting entry.
However, I did find the "Europe" section a little confusing, as most of it seemed to assume that I knew considerably more about European politics than I do.

I dunno...
I've just looked at the Europe section again and I don't see how I can change it.
In order to explain what each institution is I'd have to turn the article into a basic run-down of European administration.
The names of the institutions are there for those who searched "Strasbourg" to find out *why* they're there, I assumed that if they did that that they would already know *what* they are.
If you can give me an idea of how it could be simplified I'd happily make some changes, but as it stands I've tried to keep it balanced between informative and concise.

I think the Europe section is perfectly OK. It gives a flavour of the bureaucracy which goes completely over the heads of those of us living in Europe.

Sweety- I'm gonna recommend your entry! i do love it. 2 things 1st, though-
1. Change the title, or lose the Kehl.
2. I think I forgot what 2 was...
Checking...
Oh! Got it! I think you should put "in the time of the Roman Empire", not just The Romans. That gives a sense of direction.
Read through the comments, see if you should change anything, and tell me when you're done.
One last thing- I ain't no GML wiz, but I'd use the headers in this article, since there are no pictures, it needs some pattern breaking.
Good luck, hun!

Oh- you've got the title thing! Ok, but I did have to use the Back and Forward icons alot! Why aren't the entry and conversations attached? No wonder it got lost!

I changed the bit about the Romans, but I think the title has to stay and I don't see how I can put any more headers in.
Thanx!

I didn't check just now, but if you do text, it will give you the blue headers...
Anyway, I've got it on my To Do list, and I'm taking it to the next point. Are you sure you're done with it?

and gives me the red titles. I used those for "Strasbourg" and "Kehl" and for the smaller titles.
Yup, it's all done now, to my satisfaction.

The names "Strasbourg" and "Kehl" should be extended by "France" and "Germany" respectively, at the latest in the subeditting stage, as it is a rule for the subeds to specify place names like this. (see the last para of the subeds' page: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/SubEditors-Style)
The entry is jolly good; it contains enough information - although, knowing the two places fairly well myself, I know you could go on forever. I would recommend someone doing shopping to head for the Place Kléber, where there is a Marks and Sparks (place of pilgrimage for us expats in the area) and, if they are still there - Flunch for a cheap and good meal, and Fnac for unlimited books and records. Whoops - I've just realised how long it is since I went!
A special tourist treat is a boat ride on the canals in Petite Venise, another part of the town. Strasbourg has a camp site, but if you want to go swimming, do as the natives do and cross the border to Kehl where the swimming pool is cleaner.
It is an absolute must to take a camera as Strasbourg is indescribably picturesque. Perhaps you could introduce a link to Freiburg im Breisgau, as the two towns seem very similar in style and atmosphere - and I don't think this is only my subjective opinion.
