A Conversation for Telephone Directory Enquiries
telephone directory enquiries
Javert Started conversation May 19, 2003
During the average day working for directory enquiries.
Does it seem that you get at least one caller who:
1. Removes batteries from his/her hearing aid.
or
2. Drinks at least three double vodkas.
or
3. Slurs speech as much as possible.
or
4. Adopts broad and utterly incomprehensible regional accent.
or
5. Turns telly or radio up as loud as possible.
or
6. Opens all windows to let in traffic noise.
or
7. Encourages their children to play ‘Who can scream the loudest?’ two feet away from the telephone.
or
8. Removes false teeth.
or
9. Hides all pens and paper in the house.
or
10. Forgets all manners.
or
11. Places telephone as close to mouth as possible.
or
12. Breathes as loudly as possible.
or
13.Works up into a really bad mood.
or
14.Completely forgets the name of the person they are looking for.
or
15. All the above
THEN AND ONLY THEN, PHONES ME ON 192?
Or am I just having a bad day?
Any other annoying traits you notice please reply.

The most annoying thing I've found is the getting rid of 192 and replacing it with a million and one useless 118 numbers all in the name of customer choice, when everyone I've spoken to says they'd like to chose to phone good old 192 again, but can't.
