23 God has sent down the best narration, a Scripture showing verse in pairs, the skins of those who reverence their Lord shiver from it, then their skins and their hearts soften up to the remembrance of God.
Such is God's guidance, He guides with it whoever He wills, and for whomever God misguides, then none can guide him.

The only things we can take with us from this world when we die, are our deeds. No amount of worldly power and wealth will be of any use at all.
Imagine if you had the responsibilty to guide mankind towards spiritual success1, who were on the whole, unable to read and write, and certainly only a few with knowledge of philosophy.
Perhaps you would explain to them in parables2, what would be the consequences
of turning away from Divine authority. How else could you deliver your message in 'common speech' ?
