The Actroid, Twenty Second Century Technology Today!

During the robot expo of 2005 a new android was released by Osaka University and is one of the most sophisticated robots that have been place out to date. We can look at the machine and see how human like she is, even more so that Mister Data on Star Trek. She is capable of changing her facial expressions without having anyone control their expressions and responses.
Another feature of the actroid is it has limited movement, such as lowering and raising of its head or the blinking of its eyes. The robot is capable of rudimentary speech and has been programmed to give the proper responses to simple questions asked to it by people. Its skin is of silicone and appears to be very lifelike more than the robots and androids of science fiction writers.
The original model has a "Sister" the Repliee R1, both these versions have been built in the likeness of a young woman in Japan. There have been other models of this machine made one such is a male version made in the likeness of one of its creators. Right now these robots are little more than good sources of entertainment that can spark the imagination or start a conversation. As of yet the actroid has a limited learning capability and no survival instinct such as most people fear of robots.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
