My Shell
Created | Updated Jan 11, 2009
Can't touch me, can't hurt me.
An outer case, unbreakable,
A fortress for emotions.
I hide within, alone.
A carapace of will,
To keep the truth concealed,
To keep the world from interfering,
And protect the softer parts.
A fence, a wall, a shield
Conceals the fleshiness of hopes and dreams
And fears and loves and needs.
Sheltered, unexposed, secure.
A harbour for my inmost self,
Never freed perhaps, but never harmed.
Unexpressed, but never mocked.
Unable to grow, but undiminished.
A safe place, my shell.
Alone.
