I have been reviewing the entry. The first hyperlink did not go through the second did with the picture of the monarch. I will continue to study it in earnest. I can see you have put a lot of research into the piece, dates and battles and peoples and places, what you need to explain in the narrative if any critcism can be considered constructive, is the passion that should be portrayed in the verbage. Don't be so dry darling, I know you are passionate about the subject and I you know why they were fighting and what were the reasons in each man's earnest soul, what each faction; nobleman, scott, parlimentarian, and royalist was bleeding for as he fell on the field. War can be an honorable endeavor and each faction must have felt that thier reasons were the most honorable. Am I much too innocent in the ways of the world to believe this? Is it just land and power for the Bully Boys?
JLC the Again I will continue to read and study this entry with the passion that you have put into its creation until I understand what it was all about. I am well schooled in the wars of Spain & France during the 17th century and am anxious to learn what was happenig to England during this tumultuous time and why.
Well done Happy.
You have written a chronology of the English Civil Wars which many are no doubt, including myself somewhat ignorant...this is no excuse...we must know our past mistakes to learn from them and all wars have something to teach us. They tell us about the people and their struggles during the time they occurred and have a deep signifigance and relevance on our evolution as a civilized society.

This was a political war at heart over constitutional issues (You go to the courts we have a war and exicute th monarch) - my own views after 15 years of ECW battl re-enactmnt as a Royalist may be somewhat warped so I have tried to keep to the bare facts - All the links are now working, just updated the page.

Dearest Happy,
Very Funny. Don't you love me anymore? I'm too sensitive, yeah, I'm too sensitive. No, No, you're to sensitive. Yeah, No, Yeah, No. Anyway, I am halfway sane today. Went through all the court Jazz yesterday during the day, went through all the emotional jazz last night about the court thing. I think I have a handle on it right now. I am going to go back and really enjoy the English Civil Wars entry soon. Meanwhile, while I was in court my lawyer, snake that he is, but we are good friends for years, so as long as you know what you are dealing with. (Take me in tender lady, take me in cried the snake, she pressed him to her body, she held him to her close, he bit her and she cried out, Oh why! The snake replied so calmly did reply: You knew darn well I was a snake before you took me in.) Kind of like the story of the Frog and the Scorpian told in the movie "The Crying Game," let me know if you want hear it or remember it. Anyhoo...My lawyer and I have similiar reading habits and he happened to have a copy of a mag called "The New Republic" ( if you are wondering how this relates to the English Civil Wars entry) There was a book review on some recently issued books on English history. *Where is my briefcase?* JLC muses, he gave me the mag, I tell you about them in my next posting, point really being, you have really peaked my interest in English History. And like I didn't know already you were a bloody Royalist, as girls say here in the States: Duh!

The Book review in the "The New Republic" mag, was by R.F. Foster, who is Carroll Professor of Irish History at Oxford and the author of Mordern Ireland, 1600-1972(Viking-Penguin) The Storyteller, name of the review of the New Book by Simon Schama "A History of Britain, Volume I: At the Edge of the World, 3500B.C.-1603A.D.(Talk Miramax, 415pp.)These 2 tomes are the basis for a documentary made by the BBC and released on the History Channel this November called "The History of Britain." For all other too busy to sit down and read a history book types, it was noted in the article that Churchill's narrative "History of the English Speaking Peoples, was recently aired on the BBC radio as "This Sceptred Isle." Most Americans wouldn't be able to support Churchill's booming pomposity but if anyone can tell me where I could get an audio feed of this I would surely enjoy it.Meanwhile, Happy Reading!
