Not really an article as such but it is informative in it's own way.
I'd be grateful for any feedback on how this rates as an entry and also if some researched information on the political implications of the said divide were added, would it be a viable entry for editing?
Thanks for your time and interest.

Interesting.
As you suggest, it's not really the type of thing that is normally considered for editing. On the other hand, there's no reason why you shouldn't incorporate it in an Entry on this subject, as long as the point of view can be defended. The key thing to bear in mind is that the finished Entry should present a realistic depiction of the subject. In this case, I suspect that the premise might be a contentious one.
If you haven't already, take a look at the guidelines for writers page; the examples used will give you a clear idea of the style that is considered most representative of successful submissions.

Don't give up on verse just because it doesn't fit the Edited Entry criteria though. There are a lot of poetry fans around who would miss it.

Thanks John, I did do a cookery article too which I was advised to post here. So if you're on a VERY low budget and you're hungry you can check that out aswell if you like.

Mmm... food is something I'm more comfortable with.
This is a useful addition. I'm surprised, in fact, that there isn't an entry on this subject already... unless I've missed it. One slight change that should be made is the reference to travelling in the Galaxy. Still, that's easy to fix.

Thank you John, I did check whether or not there were any other entries on budget eating before i wrote it. I couldn't find any either.
Anyway I would like to be considered for editing so if you have any tips on what I'm doing wrong (not with the poem, it was just a bit of entertainment really, although a proper informative look at the subject is floating around my head) then I'd be grateful to hear them.
Thanks again...

I think you're on the right track. You should replace the reference to travelling around the galaxy with something more mundane, though. The tack being taken with Edited Entries is that, unless you can demonstrate that you have actually done it, it is assumed that things like inter-galactic travel don't fall within the mandate of describing real life phenomena. The introduction you have would be quite good without it, anyway. This is often rather a weak point with entries based on recipes.
If I were you, I'd start another thread to showcase this entry and see where that leads.

Editorial Note: This Conversation has been moved to the Writing Workshop, purely because we only incorporate poems into the Edited Guide if they're purely factual, or used as introductions to prose entries.
We'd love to see some discussion round the whole subject of poems in the Guide, so this move isn't a comment on the poem itself, just the fact that we don't yet know how poems fit into the structure of the Edited Guide.
Fire away!

Editorial Note: This Conversation has been moved to the new 'Flea Market' Forum.
This is where we move any Peer Review, Writing Workshop or Alternative Writing Workshop Conversations where the original author has *not* posted to h2g2 for three months. This prevents the active Review Forums from clogging up with dormant entries, but in the Flea Market they can be picked up by others and polished off.
Key: Complain about this post
