Pokemon Emerald Walkthrough III (Rusturf Tunnel to Dewford)
Created | Updated Oct 5, 2012
Skitty (quite rare)
Normal type, evolves into delcatty with the moon stone.
Not much of a fighter and I cant say i've ever trained one for this reason but I just thought I'd mention it because it's so cute!
Nincanda
Bug, Ground type, learns moves like fury cutter and cut. The real eye opener about nincada though is its evolution. At level 20 it evolves into the speedy and powerfull, Ninjask (bug, flying). But, if you have five pokemon or less (and make sure you do) a second pokemon will be produced. Shedinja (bug, ghost), shedinja has only one HP (how useless, I hear you say), but thanks to wonder guard (its truely unique special ability) it only takes damage from moves that are super effective (like fire and dark). When combined with fury cutter (a move that gets increasingly powerful each time it's used) Shedinja is the perfect little cheat to get you past those tricky gym leaders (except Flannery)
Anyway! Back to the game. Once you have beaten the junior trainers, bug catchers and hikers in your way go to the cave. A worried old man called Mr Britney (or something like that, ill just call him wingull guy), he will tell you how him and his peeko (a wingull) were ambushed by the thug and peeko was taken away. Follow the goon into the cave to see that there will be no need for a high speed persuit, the tunnel's a dead end! The goon will battle you for the goods and peeko (it's the usual poocheyena), this battle should be no problem for the Rusboro gym champion, but if you're really paranoid about your money then save before you approach him. Once you win, wingull guy will come in, thank you and leave for his cottage by the sea.
Before you leave the cave, check out it's one and only inhabitant,
Whismer
Normal type, evolves into Loudred and level 20someting and into the powerfull Exploud at level 40 (where it will learn hyper beam!)
Whismer is a sound based pokemon and (if you are very, very patient) learns hyper voice. Its evolved forms are good with moves like strength and dynamic punch (due to thier high attack rating).
Head back to Rusboro and meet with the hopeless Devon worker who will thank you with another great ball. The man will then lead you to the top of the Devon building where youll have every delivery job Devon has to offer offloaded onto you. A letter to deliver to Steven (the new Lance) in Dewford and the important package to slateport (have these guys ever heard of post?!?).
As payment, the Devon chairman Mr Stone will give you a Pokenav (new pokegear, old poketch). It has a map, a phone (once you leave the building) and a status checker for contests.
On your way to petalburg you meet your rival and he/she will tell you about how wingull guy used to be a sailer (honestly may/brendon we dont have time for your gossip weve gotta find away across the sea to dewford!) and offer you a battle, if you accept then remember to save the game and make sure you have a pokemon to combat your rivals starter which should have moves to destroy your starter by now.
Go south (down) through Petalbourg woods (don't forget to cut the bushes immediatly to the right as you enter, the girl there will give you a miracle seed for your shroomish or treeko) and back to the beach. By now roxanne may have called you on the pokenav, when she does she will leave you her number so you you can give her a rematch one day (after the pokemon league). Go to wingull guy's house and he will be more than happy to give you a ride to dewford on his boat. Half way there you will get a call from your dad, who will leave his number. To the left as you leave petalbourge you will also pass the sea ruins, home of regice, although you wont see it (more on that later).
