I want to contribute stuff to the Guide. How can I do it?
Once you register, everything you write instantly becomes part of h2g2, so all you need to do to add to the repository of knowledge that is h2g2 is to create a new Guide Entry, post to a Conversation or add an entry to your Journal. That's it: by doing any of these things you are already adding to the Guide. It really is that simple!
You can find out more about contributing Guide Entries here, more about contributing to Conversations on h2g2 here, and information on adding Journal Entries here.
For the latest information on contributing to the Guide, check out the page on Contributing to the Guide. You can click the 'Contribute' button to go to this page at any time but it is only available in the Alabaster and Classic Goo skins. You can learn more about skins here.
Please note that it can take up to 24 hours for new Guide Entries and Postings to show up in search results, as we only index the Guide once a day, to prevent the servers from being tied up for too long.
Before contributing, please read the entry on h2g2 and Intellectual Property Law, which contains a discussion of how copyright law affects what you can contribute to h2g2.

What's the copyright situation with stuff I put on h2g2?
It's important to note that you still own the copyright to everything you contribute to h2g2. This means you are perfectly free to take what you have written and re-publish it somewhere else but when you contribute to h2g2, you grant us (among other things) a non-exclusive right to publish your work in any media; see the Terms and Conditions for the full terms of our rights. As we may wish to distribute the Guide in various formats in the coming years, we need to be sure that we have the right to publish everything that's on h2g2.
For a full discussion of how copyright law affects what you can contribute to h2g2, see the entry on h2g2 and Intellectual Property Law.
For more questions about copyright on h2g2, especially to do with collaborative entries and Edited Entries, please check out the legal section of the FAQ.
